Dewatering
Effective dewatering is a critical stage in any commissioning operation following hydrotesting and is often required throughout the lifetime of existing pipeline systems.
Traditionally, dewatering is carried out using conventional mechanical pigs launched from a subsea system, platform or FPSO. However, this approach requires full pig launch and recovery (PLR) facilities as the pig must be physically retrieved, adding significant cost and operational complexity. Pipeline bore can also vary considerably along the line, particularly in older assets, making conventional pigging impractical.
SANCCUS Gel Pigs are specifically designed to overcome these challenges.
Case History
There was a subsea choke skid which was due to be replaced. Our Gel Pig train fulfilled 3 objectives in a single application - deoiling, environmental barrier and dewatering. It also enabled the treatment of the lines with multiple diameters.
